Boat Rules & Regs

1.  All boats must register annually with and be approved by the B.P,C.A. The B.P.C.A. will designate and assign all slips on the east side and two slips on the west side of the Grand Canal. Substitution of boats, relocation or removal of davits or exchanging slips are not permitted. Only davits supplied through the B.P.C.A. and weights approved by the Dock master’s Committee of the Board of Directors may be used for mooring. Bay Park membership decals must be prominently displayed on the bulkhead side of each boat.

2.  A boat slip is not transferable with the sale of a house; however all resident members

have priority for the next available slip. Resident members and non resident members must have the approved boat in the assigned slip within six months of registration. The B.P.C.A. reserves the right to sublet empty slips at its discretion.

3.  A $18000 deposit on davits will be collected. Deposit is refundable upon return and inspection of davits. Each resident boat owner must pay a $40.00 membership fee to the B.P.C.A.. Non-resident boat owners must pay a $40.00 guest membership fee to the B.P.C. A..  A footage rate per slip will be assessed on an annual basis by the Board of Directors. Resident rates apply to one boat registered to the resident member. Additional boats will be assessed at guest member rates.

4.  All applications must be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval with the

following:

# Photograph clearly showing the boat and the boat registration number.
# Copy of the valid NYS boat registration.
# A signed copy of these regulations

5.  Boat owners shall provide for their own liability and salvage insurance and coverage for any property therein. The B.P.C.A. assumes no liability for the activities and conduct of boaters, their families or guests.

6.  You are responsible for maintaining your slip this includes all lines, weights and ladders. All refuse shall be removed and properly disposed of when departing the dock area. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL REFUSE BE DISCARDED IN THE WATERWAY.

7.  Float ramp is for loading and unloading only (maximum of fifteen minutes). Water is Available along the Grand Canal to wash down registered boats. All hoses must be stored properly. Hoses left: on the grass make grass cutting more difficult. Do not tamper with hose spigot. If you need a water key ask your dock master.

8.  This is a residential community. OFFENSIVE AND RAUCOUS BEHAVIOR IS NOT PERMITTED. Unnecessary idling, particularly for early or late departures, arrivals or charging of batteries should be avoided. Engine repairs are not permitted at the slips, only in cases of emergency. Painting or sanding is not permitted in or around the Grand Canal.

9.  FUELING IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE GRAND CANAL.

10.  All boats must have 2 spring lines attached in addition to davit lines. larger boats must have safety lines secured. Davit weights must be sufficient enough to hold the boat in place. It is strongly recommended that a swivel pulley at the top of the davit poles be used. All lines and davits will be inspected by the dock masters. You will be asked to remedy any deficiencies promptly.

11.  Boats or motors are not permitted to be lifted over the guard rails.

12.  Boats can be in the canal on March 15th All boats must be removed from the canal by December 15th Owners will be charged $15.00 a day after December 15th.  When a boat is removed, weights should be removed and the lines secured around the base of the davit. Weight lines must not be secured in any way as to damage the davits. A $20.00 fee will be levied against any boat owner failing to properly secure the lines. This is your responsibility. Dock masters will not remove weights or secure lines. Any boat left after December 30th will be considered abandoned and removed at the owner’s expense    15- Failure to adhere to these rules will result in removal of your boat, lost of rights to your slip and lost of deposit.

13. NO WAKE IS PERMITTED IN THE GRAND CANAL.

14. Boats sunk longer than 48 hours will be removed at the owner’s expense.

15. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in the removal of your boat and loss of rights to your slip and loss of deposit.

16. All boat fees are non-refundabel

These rules apply to all boat owners, resident and non-resident. Your compliance will ensure the safety and enjoyment of boaters and the community.
